Mission Accomplished

My weekend was a success because, despite the fact that I didn't win a single item at the Wright auction, I did buy this gorgeous brass bottle opener. I love it's simple lines and hexagon shape. Tell me -- is it not the chicest thing you've ever seen?!? I thought it would be the perfect housewarming gift for my beer-loving boyfriend. He has a thing for leaving our heinous bottle opener on the counter when he opens a beer...drives me nuts! Problem solved. This opener is so chic I actually want him to leave it out when not in use. Now all I need to do is find something to throw away his beer caps. Any suggestions?

Inspired Interior | High Gloss Bar

It was love at first sight when I saw this stunning living room bar in the new issue of High Gloss magazine. I’m obsessed with the Midas gold-dipped carafe and the Waylande Gregory pineapple vase, and the beautifully skirted table is equally appropriate for a small dinner party or just mixing a drink. Inspired by Cathy Echols' lovely design, I’ve gathered some items that offer a similar juxtaposition of traditional and modern. To achieve this look, try playing with textures, mixing silver and gold, shiny and matte, high and low, old and new.  And of course, no bar is complete without a punch of color!

Cheers to a great weekend!

Cocktails Anyone?

I love a glamorous home bar, and I'm not talking about a leftover stash of liquor in your kitchen cabinet.  I like a bar that is both functional and beautiful. Once you have a nice variety of liquor there are so many fun things you can add to your bar: a great array of mixers, gorgeous glassware, a beautiful tray, colorful cocktail napkin and chic bar tools. While it may not always be practical to give up precious real estate in an apartment to a bar, with the holidays right around the corner I can't think of a better time to make the space for a few of these "gilty" pleasures.
