Feeling Feminine

I don't consider myself overly girly but for as long as I can remember I've always wanted a vanity.  As a kid I loved watching my mom sit at her vanity everyday and apply her makeup.  There's something about the routine of sitting down and taking time to get ready that seems so glamorous.  This tiered vanity skirt designed by Ryan Korban is the epitome of chic.  I can only image what kind of products are hiding under those ruffles — La Mer, perhaps?

Smitten | Decorative Jewels

As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted a vanity. This one from Steven Gambrel's Designer Visions showhouse is particularly stunning.  I love the idea of hanging your necklaces and jewelry on the walls as decoration - all you'd need is a box of shoulder hooks like this

Hooked on Horses

One glance at this glamorous dressing room from the latest issue of Rue and I was hooked (pun intended).    I'm not sure why but I have a strange love affair with horses.  You'd think I lived on a farm as a kid, owned a horse or even rode one but none of the above are true.  How and when this affair began?  I'm not sure but I attribute part of it to my ever-growing collection of equestrian-themed Hermes scarves.  So you see that horse hook on the left, holding up the vintage bag?  That's the first thing that caught my eye in this beautiful room.  Well, that and the amazing plexi-craft vanity.  Back to the horse.  I was seriously distraught when the source for this clever horsehead was not revealed.  Luckily, the lovely homeowner shared the source for this great find on her blog, Sketch42.  A few clicks and $10 later, I'm now the proud owner of my very own horsehead hook.  You can purchase your own here.
