I'm loving this fresh, fun and completely unique floral Save the Date designed by Lisa Hedge.  The minimal typography and perfectly placed clipped floral images remind me of the modern floral installations from the Jil Sander Fall 2012 show. I'm adding both of these images to my dream wedding file...

A Winter Wonderland Wedding

In an effort to spread the love (because I may or may not have intentionally ignored Valentine's Day yesterday) today I bring you what I believe to be the perfect winter wedding!  I've always thought of myself as a late summer/early fall wedding kinda gal but these enchanting Beaver Creek nuptials have me seriously reconsidering.  Wedding planner extraordinaire Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming! thoughtfully crafted every last detail turning the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch into a charming winter wonderland.

Maybe I only want a winter wedding so I can wear a glamorous fur stole...who knows?!

But doesn't the bride look stunning?

Muslin welcome bags, printed with two owls, were filled with a bottle of vanilla extract and the secret ingredient in the groom's father's pancake recipe (also included).

Jugs of the grooms favorite root-beer milk are chilled by a pile of snow and the favor bags are filled with beautiful rock candy.  The bridesmaids carried bouquets of fir, wild pine and berries.

Escort cards bearing a crest with the couple's initials were nailed to a stack of firewood and cotton-boll wreaths were hung to mimick the snow outside.

Lisa enhanced the rustic vibe of the Ritz ballroom by adding real pine trees.

Centerpieces were made from cotton bolls, pinecones, evergreen sprigs, and flickering candles.

Even the dessert table carried on the rustic theme, metal pots filled with chocolate and caramel treats were grouped around the pièce de résistance—A faux bois cake sitting on a log pedestal cut by a local lumberjack.

So, can you feel the love?!?  What about a winter wedding?

Elegant + Enchanted

This weekend I’ll be attending Ms. See Jane’s shower and bachelorette party, so I’ve got weddings on my mind…leave it to Martha Stewart to publish the wedding of my dreams! I’m absolutely enchanted with this Great Gatsby inspired Bridgehampton wedding. I’ve always dreamt of a small wedding under a tent in the middle of an orchard, with vintage china and cascading blooms…just like this.  

To create the dreamy setting, every detail was thoughtfully crafted and lovingly designed so it felt as if it had been on the property for decades.

English parasols and peacock covered fans helped guests fend off the summer heat.

A rustic table filled with artisanal cheeses, grapes, vegetables, and baguettes was set up for cocktail hour. The couple wanted guests to feel like they were strolling through the countryside and suddenly discovered an amazing market.  Liquor was poured in to decanters found at Williams Sonoma.

My Favorite detail - A faux white peacock tucked into the peak of the tent, along with overflowing flowers and greenery.  Mercury glass vessels overflowed with white peonies and fragrant geranium leaf covered long tables.

Table numbers and menus, painted by Bernard Maisner,were nestled amongst arrangements of white peonies, 'Patience' roses, passion vine, ferns, 'Garden Snow' spray roses, and English lavender.  Notice the mix-and-match china and gold rim glasses....isn't this what wedding dreams are made of?

California Citrus

 

As I mentioned before, my sister is engaged and has "hired" moi to plan her wedding.  While diligently doing my job and searching for inspiration I read about a florist shop in Brooklyn named Saipua. After reading about their inventive arrangements I swung by their site and was immediate taken back by this beauty!  The colors, the unexpected combination of fruit and flowers - this is honestly the loveliest arrangement I ever did see.   If Lauren has a Napa wedding this will be used...along with the burlap tablecloth.

Winter Wedding

My jaw dropped when I spotted this spread of  Joan Smalls and Guinevere van Seenus in the September 2010 issue of American Vogue.  Dressed in most beautiful designer skirts and chunky knitwear the models ooze high society elegance - it's beyond brilliant.  My older sister recently got engaged and wants a nontraditional wedding and dress.  If she opts for a winter wedding this is definitely a look to consider!
